Focus group (Qualitative research)

Which of these newspapers appeals to you more?
1st person: “I think the Metro is more attractive, it has more colour than the Salford advertiser, and therefore I am more inclined to pick that up”
2nd person: “I also like the Metro for similar reasons, I don’t read either of them, but if I were to choose one to read I would pick the metro.”
3rd person: “Actually, I prefer the Salford advertiser, I think the Metro looks a bit cheap, and so I can’t imagine the stories being decent.”

Which of these articles appeals to you more?
1st person: “definitely the `Bloodbath’ one on the Salford advertiser it looks far more intense and really makes me want to read it.”
2nd person:”I like the Metro’s more I think, `strangled over bottle of scent’ because it pulls a quote from the actual article so I know it isn’t being exaggerated.
3rd person:”No, it has to be the bloodbath one, it sounds far more shocking and more of a tragedy than the other.”

What kind of stories would you like to read and why?
1st person: “definitely crime or tragedy, they are much more emotional and shocking, so it makes you want to read them, opposed to a silly unimportant article.”
2nd person: “I agree they are much more chilling etc. however I do quite like local stories too, especially in a local paper.”
3rd person:” yeah I would be much more inclined to read something shocking rather than politics etc, but I also enjoy some local news too.”
